Evidence of the defence of the Realm can be found all around the United Kingdom. It's nothing new! Old castles and fortifications, can be found all over Britain, most famous are fortiifications by Henry VIII, the Martellos of the Napoleonic Wars, and Palmerston's follies of the Victorian era.  But a more recent remnant of the past are the WWII defences in the form of radar stations, pill boxes, bunkers and military bases.  It is these defences that I am mostly concentrating on for this project.  As time passes and the decades go by some of this hastily constructed structures are slowly disappearing, many decaying and falling into the sea. It is only a matter of time before they disappear forever. Many have already disappeared and for some there only remains a surviving trace, as such it seems even more important to document what there is before it is too late.
